I try to tweet about all participants, so don’t forget to include your Twitter username if you want to be notified of your tweet mention! The first line can make or break a reader’s interest. Just how well did the author pull you in to the story with their first sentence? To participate in this weekly book meme is extremely easy.
- Grab the book you are currently reading and open to the first page.
- Write down the first sentence in the first paragraph. (If you want to use 2-3 sentences, that is okay but limit it to the very beginning.)

Here is my Friday Firsts: Freakling by Lana Krumwiede
The first time Taemon’s brother tried to kill him was the night Uncle Fierre came over with his unisphere.
I haven’t gotten to this book, yet. But I really need to because the sentence really draws me in. It seems to be sort of a steampunk/dystopian type novel so I really hope that it does not disappoint! (Okay, I am totally assuming steampunk due to the gears on the cover.. Don’t ask me what it really means.)
